Brazilian Lemonade has become a new favorite refresher for us! It is made with limes, whole limes (not lemons), blended with cold water then sweetened condensed milk is added to create a creamy sweetness that compliments the tart lime juice. Just 3 simple ingredients, a blender and some ice and you've got the makings of something really special that you have to taste to believe. You can spike it with rum, vodka, tequila or gin if you like, but honestly- this beverage is so delicious just as is that I prefer it sans alcohol.
Brazilian Lemonade makes one beverage
Ingredients
1 fresh, thin-skinned Lime, washed well, quartered
1 cup cold Water, filtered, non-carbonated
2 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk, or Coconut Sweetened Condensed Milk (for non-dairy version)
Ice
Directions
1. Place the quartered lime in a blender with the cup of cold water and pulse several times until the lime is shredded into small pieces. Do not let the blender run continuously- just pulse, no more than 20 seconds total. Any longer and it can turn bitter.
2. Pour the lime/water mixture through a sieve into a bowl or pitcher and gently press all the juice from the pulp. Discard or compost the pulp.
3. Rinse the blender & blade of any residual pulp, then pour the lime/water mixture back into the blender along with the sweetened condensed milk.
4. Blend 10-15 seconds until well combined and creamy. Taste the mixture and if it needs more sweetened condensed milk if it's too tart for your taste, add a tablespoon at a time and pulse to combine.
5. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the lemonade over ice and garnish with a lime slice. Enjoy immediately.
